| Notes for John ADAMS |
323There is a gravestone for him in the churchyard of the First parish Church, Georgetown, (directly across the street from the church). His grave is close to the front of the cemetery, very near the only "table" gravestone. Although quite weathered, the inscription can be read. The stone is substantial, thicker than most of that time.
323In the diptheria epidemic of 1736, seventy-two children in Rowley died. The disease was then called "throat distemper". This, in all probablity caused the death of the three children of this couple, who died in the summer of 1736: Mehitable Adams, 17 Jul 1736; Moses Adams, 26 Jul 1736 and Mary Adams, 6 Aug 1736. |
| Notes for Sarah (Spouse 2) |
| 323There is no gravestone for Sarah in the Georgetown parish churchyard. This seems unusual with her death occurring only four years after John's. There are conflicting death dates of 11 Sep 1781. |
