Notes for Nathan WOODMAN
On 28 Jun, 1749 Nathan bought from his brother Joseph, their father's homestead at Newbury, Massachusetts. The homestead had been bequeathed to Joseph by his father. Nathan lived there and continued the tanning yards until he sold the property to William Dummer, "tanner", 30 Sep, 1756. Shortly after this sale Nathan settled at Narraganset No.1, becoming the third brother to settle there.
He purchased two lots at Pleasant Point from his brother Joseph on 10 Jan, 1757. He built tanning pits there and continued his trade of tanner.
Nathan enlisted as a Private in Capt. Jeremiah Hill's Company, Col. James Lauman's regiment on 3 May, 1775. From 1777-1780 he was a corporal in the company of Capt. Daniel Lawe from Topsfield.
