| Notes for Ebenezer HILL Captain |
Capt. Ebenezer Hill had a shipyard on Division Point.
Captain Ebenezer Hill [1782-1828] son of Hezekiah and Eunice Collins Hill of Cousins Island. He married Lucy Hamilton in 1802. She was the daughter of Ambrose and Deborah Soule Hamilton. Here is a man with a colorful story. He was a shipbuilder, master of several vessels, had a salt quarry, a brickyard, son of a Boston Tea Party 'pourer', a prisoner of war himself in the War of 1812, and buried in Trinity Churchyard, City of New York. No history of Chebeague or Casco Bay ever misses him. He lived at Division Point-east side, and his wife's share of the original Hamilton homestead gave them the other side of the Point. He built his house there in 1804. |
