| Robert Pike was born in 1615 and came to the colonies in 1635 with his father on the "James." He first settled in Newbury and then removed to Salisbury. He is listed in the 1642 list of first settlers of Newbury. He was made freeman on May 17, 1637 and was a representative in 1638. He was also a member of the council and a justice of the peace. He married on April 3, 1641, Sarah Sanders, the daughter of John and Alice Coles Sanders, who died Nov 1, 1679. He married second Martha Moyce. He was one of the first to object to the Salem Witch Trials and unsuccessfully defended Mary Perkins Bradbury at her trial. He died Dec 12, 1706. |
