Notes for George (Spouse 2)
238George was known as "Captain George" for his success in trading with the Indians.

For his service in the Massachusetts Colony, he was granted a tract of land in Carver and upon this land, some of his descendants still live. He was a large landowner and had a large family. He sold his house on Mill St., Plymouth, to Joseph Mitchell for 90 shillings in 1711. George resided in Plymouth until 1711. The next year he was described as being from Plympton, where he was already the owner of considerable land. He gave deeds to each of his sons during the later years of his life, of land near him and near to each other, on which it seems that most of them resided. One deed conveys to his sons and sons-in-laws the privilege and the right to take iron ore from Sampson's pond in Carver for which they are to pay him two shillings pence per ton. The descendants of George still in this town, and occupy lands that have been in their families for generations. It seems fair inference that he must have been quite wealthy. His will disposes of added quantities of land among his sons, and the grandchildren and directs the payment of small legacies to his daughters.238 Will of George Barrow of Plympton344 made 4 September 1750, mentions, among other children, daughter Deborah Benson, wife of Caleb.
