Notes for Patience
858The surname Wakefield has not been proven, and in fact there is no mention of any early female named Patience in the Wakefield genealogy by Homer Wakefield ( - 1897). We believe the basis for this Wakefield connection arises from the fact that Mary Littlefield, a sister of John-2, married John Wakefield. The in-law relationship has caused some confusion.
Notes for John (Spouse 1)
John was in Dedham, MA in 1650 and Wrentham afterwards. He owned almost all of what is now Ogunquit, ME.
Made the rank of Lieutenant on 29 May 1668 and placed in command at Wells, ME in 1675. He made Captain in 1690.

Captain John Littlefield lived an active and industrious life. He had a grant of land in 1643 at the same time as his father. He apparently purchased part of his father's property as we find in Edmund's will, "I give unto my son John Littlefield Ten pounds, to be paid out of the forty pounds which he is to pay for his purchase at Ogunquit". [Spelling corrected] This bequest reflects a ten pound reduction of the debt John would owe to his father's estate.

He was also embroiled in a civil suit over his interest in the lands of the Gorges family in the Moody section of Wells.
