Notes for Bill AUSTIN
689William Austin was also known as "Bill" or "Will" Austin and referred to by earlier historians as the `famous Indian scout.' His only known child, William, Jr., was captured as a small boy and raised by Indians. William, Jr., would have been about five years old when King Philip's War broke out in June of 1675, at Swansea, Massachusetts. William, Jr. is said to have married an Indian princess and after his marriage he left the tribe and settled in Bath, Maine.
