| 648James is wholly untraced. His brother, Daniel, settled in Dover and had a son James born in 1724. There was a James Goodwin of Newmarket, Rockingham, NH, "aged 50 in 1775," which so accurately described James in age that it seemed probable he had gone to Newmarket as early as November 21, 1746. This indicates positively an older James than his nephew. It is possible that this James may have settled in Newmarket and in 1746, then 49 years ofr age, have a son old enough to be mentioned as James, Jr., born in 1725, and 50 years old in 1775. James, Jr., might also be the James, "junior" ot his uncle. It should also be noted that a James Gooding, a very common way of writing the name Goodwin in early fays, married Elizabeth and resided in Portland, ME having three daughters. |
