After marrying Bertha they lived on Mechanic Street and Jefferson Street, prior to opening and living in the Little Corner Grocery Store, which has been moved to Strawbery Banke as part of the museum.. He served for many years as the "Sealer of Weights and Measures" for the city of Portsmouth.
