| 323Last Will and Testament - John Adams, Sr. (1721-1803) recorded in Hillsboro County, NH Probate records #055, Nashua, NH In the name of God, Amen. I, John Adams, of New London, in the county of Hillsborough and State of New Hampshire, husbandman, being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory, Blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in Manner and form following, that is to say, First, I give and bequeath to my son, John Adams, the sum of ten dollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in one year after my decease. I do also give and bequeath to my son, Benjamin Adams, the sum of ten dollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in two years after my decease. I do also give and bequeath to my son, Solomon Adams, the sum of ten dollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in three years after me decease. I do also give and bequeath to my son, Moses Adams, my great Bible, my large and small steelyards, my coarse and fine flax combs and my andirons. And I do further give and devise to my son, Moses Adams, his heirs and assigns, all my lanf lying and being in the lot No. Ninety-five, in New London, aforesaid, with all my real estate whatsoever, to hold to him, the said Moses Adams, his heirs and assigns forever. I do also give and bequeath to my son, Jonathan Adams, ten dollars, to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in four years after my decease. I do also give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah Brocklebank, two dollars, to be paid by my son, Moses Adams, in five years after my decease. I do also give and bequeath to my grandchildren, the children of my daughter, Lois Perkins, deceased, two dollars, to be divided equally among them and to be paid to them by my son, moses Adams, in two years after my decease. I do give and bequeath to my grandchildren, the children of my daughter, Elizabeth Adams, deceased, viz. Israel Adams and John Adams, one dollar apiece to be paid to them by my son, Moses Adams, in two years after my decease. I do also give and bequeath to John S. Blaisdell, the husband of my daughter, Jean Blaisdell, deceased, one dollar, to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in five years after my decease. I also give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary Plummer, two dollars, to be paid to her by my son, Moses Adams, in five years after my decease. I fo further give and bequeath to my sons, viz. John Adams, Benjamin Adams, Solomon Adams, Moses Adams, and Jonathan Adams, all my wearing apparel, to be divided among them. I also further give and bequeath to my two daughters, viz. Sarah Brocklebank and Mary Plummer, all of my late wife's wearing apparel, to be equally divided between them. And I further give and bequeath to my children, viz. John Adams, Benjamin Adams, Solomon Adams, Moses Adams, Jonathan Adams, Sara Brocklebank and Mary Plummer, all my household goods, except those which are otherwiase disposed of, to be equally divided among them. And lastly, as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate, goods and chattels of what nature and kind soever, I give and bequeath the same to my son, Moses Adams, whom I hereby appoint sole executor of this, my last will and testament. i also give him all debts due to me; and I likewise order him to pay all my just debts, and bury me decently at my decease; hereby revoking all former wills made by me. (illegible name) Josiah Brown David Everett 323Soon after 1780, John Adams, his third wife, Meribath, his five surviving sons and some of his daughters moved to New London, NH. There, he was selectman in 1786 and 1788, and held several minor town offices. According to the town record, he was on the "Baker Place", Lot #170, in 1784, and probably built the house, the foundation of which could still be seen near the "Brocklebank", the spacious summer hotel erected in 1896 by Fred Baxter Gay. | ||||||||||||
