| 282The first records we have of a Robert Weymouth are in the Calendar of the Trelaway Plantation, Richmond Island and Spurwink (afterwards Falmouth and now Cape Elizabeth, Maine). Robert Waymouth came in the Hunter in 1634 (List #21, Volume 3, Maine Documents). He signed the submission to Massachusetts dated 16 Nov 1652 (Documentary History pp. 24-25 Vol. 4). Kittery grants 1653. Robert was a fisherman and mariner. From the History of Old Eliot page 47, John Green, legal owner of Franks Fort (an island in the Piscataqua River near lower Mast Cove) in 1648, later he received grants up the river in Berwick and moved there. His acres near Mast Cove were divided when the house he built and 50 acres went by sale to Robert Weymouth. In 1663, described as lying near Franks Fort between the island land of Richard Rogers and Richard Green, Sr. went to James Emery. He and his wife Elizabeth sold it to Stephen Robinson in 1663. Joseph Hammond bought it in April 1679 for fourty pounds. This was in Kittery until 1810 when it became Eliot. Robert was administrator to the estate of his brother William. New Hampshire State papers Vol. 40 court records 1640-1692 p. 107, 27 Jun 1654. Isles of Shoals, now ME. Robert died intestate, Major Sharpleigh adminstered and his inventory in 1662 was 60 pounds - 5 shillings. On 22 MAY 1676, Rebecca petitioned for her late husband's property on Staten Island, NY stating that he had years ago abandoned her and their three small children The husband who abandoned her would have been Thomas Sadler. Only two of the children are mentioned, Anthony Sadler and William Weymouth, the other child is unknown. Rebecca married first, Portsmouth, RI, Robert Weymouth, died before 24 Dec 1661. Married second in RI, Thomas Sadler. Married third, 9 Mar 1680, Daniel Eaton, died 11 Jul 1704. Married , Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island, Rebecca EMERY died 18 Jul 1719, , Little Compton, Newport Co., Rhode Island, daughter of Anthony EMERY and Francis. 283The marital career of Anthony Emery's daughter Rebecca is tangled and cloudy. We give here the sequence of events involving her husbands. On 29 June 1654, "Goodman Greene, Robert Waymouth, & James Emery" were co-defendants in a civil suit284. On 4 July 1659, "[u]pon suspicion of some misbehavior by Tho[mas] Sadler towards the court of Dover, ... Tho[mas] Sadler & Anthony Emery" jointly bonded themselves to the court285. On the same day, the grand jury presented "Thomas Sadler & Rebeccah Waymouth for riding abroad together on the Sabbath day"286. On 1 July 1662, letters of administration were granted to Major Shapleigh on "Robert Waymouth his estate"287. On 7 July 1663, letters of administration were granted to James Emery on "Robert Waymouth his estate"288. On the same day, James Emery petitioned "about freeing his father Anthony Emery from a bond of £20 forfeit to the county for Tho[mas] Sadler his non-appearance for whom he was bound"289. On 9 March 1680/1, Anthony Emery deeded land to "my daughter Rebeckah Sadler"290. On 10 May 1700, James Emery deeded land to "my sister Rebecca Eaton alias Sadler"291. | ||||||||||
