Notes for John (Spouse 2)
52In a deposition dated 8 March 1705/6, John Soule swore he was "about Seventy foure years" of age. He married first probably at Duxbury about 1654 Rebecca Simmons, daughter of Moses Simmons, who died probably in Duxbury between 1665 and 1668.

By deed, dated 30 December 1674, Moses Simmons in "Consideration of a marriage heretofore consummated between John Soul of Duxbury and my eldest daughter, Rebecca" gave to John land in Middleboro.

Me married second probably in Duxbury about 1678 Esther (Nash) Sampson, daughter of Lt. Samuel Nash and the widow of Samuel Sampson.

John Soule died intestate and Esther Soul, widow, was appointed to administer his estate 14 November 1707. His three daughters or their heirs proposed division of the residuary real estate amongst them since their father "in his lifetime settled all his sons portions in land by deed", and they, the daughters, received but one cow. The settlement was signed by John and Rachel Cobb, Edmund and Rebecca Weston and Adam Wright on behalf of his children born to his wife, Sarah, deceased. G. E. Bowman (MD 8:184ff) identifies all the sons of John and abstracts the deeds of gift to these sons.
