r12 4 March 1650/51 town meeting:
Agreed with John BIGELOW yet for ten trees the town allowed him for the setting up a shop for a Smiths forge, yet he should either go on with it his promise to setting up his trade, which is the trade of a Smith, with in one twelve month (after the date hereof, or else to pay unto the town ten shillings, for the ten trees he acknowleged to have of the

17 Jan 1670/71 John BIGELOW and Thomas FLAGG shall talk with Edward SANDERSON and his wife about putting out of a child to be an apprentice with Mr. NEVINSON and to drive a bargin about it if they can, or to return what answer they have to the selectman in case the cannot agree. (p.104).

3 March 1670/71 Town still having problem ith Edward SANDERSON family (children) and John BIGELOW and Thomas FLAGG shall have the power to bind them prentises with some honist people with the consent of their parents if it may be had and if the perants shall oppose them to use the help of the Magistrate. (p.105).

21 July 1671 Selectman order that John BIGELOW and Thomas FLAGG shall warn Mary BALL to depart the town forth with. (p.106).

2 Sept 1671 A complaint of a child of William KNAP that have been neglected in being learned in the English tongue, they appointed John BIGELOW to warn in Thomas SMITH to the meeting of selectman also to warn William KNAP to the meeting. (p.107).

3 Sept 1671 John BIGELOW and Thomas FLAGG Sr. were appointed to put out the children of Edward SANDERSON apprentice the return of Thomas FLAGG and John BIGELOW was that they had put out the oldest of the two of a
matter eight years of age to John FLAGG as an apprentice till she be eighteen years of age, the said John FLAGG was to have her well pareled at her coming to him and to have for his curigment fifty shilling to be paid in his rations to the town, (p.107).

r24:29-41 John Bigelow was a blacksmith. He took an oath of fidelity in 1652 and was selectman in Watertown in 1665, 1670 and 1671. His marriage to Mary Warren is the first to be found in Watertown. His inventory in 1703 was Pounds 627,12. His will was dated 4 Jan 1702/3 and proved either 23 or 28 Jul 1703.
