| Notes for John (Spouse 1) |
| 182Early Chapin Data As Derived From The English Records - Ancestors of Deacon Samuel Chapin - Until the records given on the preceding pages were discovered, nothing was known of the parentage of Deacon Samuel Chapin or his wife Cicely. From these, however, it appears that Samuel was the son of John and Phillipe (Easton) Chapin anf that Cicely was the daughter of Henry and Jane Penney. John Chapin and Phillipe Easton were married 14 September 1590. The baptismal dates appear of Samuel, son of John Chapin, 8 October 1598, and of Cicely, daughter of Henry Penney, 21 February 1601. Samuel Chapin and Cicely Penney were married 9 February 1623. Their son, David, was christened 4 January 1624. These facts are further confirmed by the will of Henry Penney, dated 6 April 1630, in which he speaks of "Cicely Chapin, my daughter" and also mentions David Chapin, my nephew, Katherine Chapin and Sarah Chapin. |
