| Notes for Henry CHAPIN |
| 182Henry Chapin at an early age entered on a seafaring life; was impressed on board a British ship and served seven years, and was in an engagement with the Dutch; afterwards, he commanded a merchant ship sailing between London and Boston. Tired of the sea, he came to Springfield in 1659, and shared with Japhet his father's gift of lands in Chicopee. There he built his house. |
